Utility Knife
Midway in size between a chef’s knife and a paring knife (usually 4–6 inches long). It’s multipurpose for tasks that are too big for a paring knife but too small for a chef’s knife—like slicing sandwiches, trimming excess fat from meat, or cutting medium-sized fruits and vegetables. The blade may have a straight edge or subtle curve, giving it flexibility when you need more precision than a chef’s knife can offer but more reach than a paring knife.
